There’s no one in Hollywood who is as besotted with their signature look as Jennifer Aniston. So much so that the 55-year-old has only ever opted for slight variations to the layered long bob she sported during her breakout role as waitress-turned-fashion-executive Rachel Green on the cult-classic sitcom, Friends.

The 90s style, ubiquitously known as ‘The Rachel’, has had many updates over the years to align with Aniston’s own evolving aesthetic. But on the red carpet at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards, Anniston’s trademark crop once again found a home in Hollywood—this time with a surprisingly low-maintenance and replicable finish.

The Morning Wars actress attended the 2024 iteration of the SAGs—which celebrated the union member’s achievements following a historic actors and writers strike—to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Barabara Streisand alongside her rumoured ex-boyfriend, Bradley Cooper. (She was also nominated for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor’ and ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series’ for her work in the cutthroat network broadcasting drama.) To do so, the star eschewed the typical choppy face-framing layers for a uniform length that hung at her collarbones.

Save for the dusting of dimension cut around her jawline, Anniston kept the shoulder-length cut minimally styled, opting for a flipped side part and straight lengths. Instead, it was her lit-from-within blonde that did most of the talking—and added the most depth to the look. Indeed, while Anniston typically is known for sleek highlights and a “bronde” balayage, the star looked to a “recession-proof” colour that looked straight out of the 90s despite being incredibly modern. For the uninitiated, recession-proof hair refers to a colour that requires little touch ups and can endure for weeks without recolouring to extend your time between salon appointments. Yes, even the cost of living crisis has reached the red carpet.

Anniston continued this streamlined mode in her plunging silver Celine gown. The look featured a sultry split at her right tight, intricate beadwork and a small train. Given that Anniston typically gravitates towards a black body-conscious gown, it’s refreshing seeing the actress depart from her accepted style. Anniston attended her first SAG Awards when the proceedings were in its 5th year. Two and a half decades later, Anniston has still got it.
