Janet Jackson is celebrating her birthday in style. On Tuesday, the pop icon kicked off the festivities with a social media post including an outfit snapshot and footage from her party.
Standing in front of a wood paneled wall, Jackson posed in a form-fitting leopard-print midi bodycon dress with long sleeves and a mock neckline from Leisure Lab. The musician accessorized with white Versace platform sneakers and shoulder-scraping hoop earrings.
Jackson wore her raven tresses in a voluminous top bun courtesy of hairstylist Cassidy Blaine and sported a smokey eye with mile-long lashes, thanks to makeup artist Preston Meneses.
“Thank you to everyone for all the beautiful bday wishes,” she captioned the post. “They all made this bday extra special for me 😘😘😘 I love you guys.”
The next slide featured a video of Jackson blowing out the candles of her two-tiered strawberry shortcake at a big party. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Grammy-winner’s bash was held at the Divine Lorraine Hotel on Monday evening, hosted by The Roots’ Questlove.
Jackson is currently on her Together Again Tour, which kicked off in April. It’s been almost four years since her last tour, and the legend is performing her greatest hits and taking the stage in a mix of custom designer looks and styles with nostalgic references.
Keep an eye out on May 21, when the superstar will be auctioning off over 800 items from her personal treasure trove with Julien’s auction house and donating a portion of the proceeds to the child advocacy group, Compassion International. The assortment will include some of her most recognizable ensembles from fan-favorite music videos, custom stage costumes, bedazzled microphones and even her 2003 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.
