Grammy-winning artist Janet Jackson revived her look from her 1986 album Control for the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday evening. The style icon celebrated her collaborators, the songwriting and producing duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this weekend, and who co-produced her Grammy-winning album.

Jackson applaud her Control producers with an Instagram video showing the three of them posing on the red carpet. “Congratulations @officialjamandlewis on being inducted into the @rockhall!!! I LUV u both so much 😘😘😘,” she wrote.

The superstar singer wore a black scarf tied around her head, with her voluminous curls tied into a towering updo. Jackson wore a black strong-shoulder jacket with a high collar and tailored pants by designer Christian Siriano, which looked reminiscent of her third studio album’s cover art. The songstress added a pair of square-shaped hoop earrings to complete the look.

The designer expressed his gratitude for the legendary musician with an Instagram post showing her ensemble and a side-by-side image of Jackson in 1986. “When Janet calls and asks you to re-create her CONTROL album cover you do it,” wrote Siriano. “Wow how do I get to create for this Icon! I love this woman so much!!!! 🖤🖤 #blessed”

In October, Siriano was honored with the Fashion Star Award at Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars Gala and shared a loving story about Jackson in his acceptance speech.

“On my way here, a fabulous woman called me and she asked, ‘What are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go get this award, I’m a little busy can we talk tomorrow?’ She said, ‘Well, I really want to talk right now because I need this look for next week.” It was Janet Jackson,” she Siriano. “The thing is, Janet and I have become close friends, and I was like ‘Well, I’m getting this award, Janet. Can we talk tomorrow?’ And she’s like, ‘Christian, can the shoulder be a little bit bigger? And I would like a tighter pant on the bottom.’”

“As other designers know, that’s what it takes in this business. You could be going to get an award, but you still have to hustle and work hard to thrive and stay relevant in this business,” he added.
