Florence Pugh has never been one to shy away from a stop-and-stare red carpet moment, so of course she didn’t hold back for Hollywood’s biggest night. Walking the 2023 Oscars red carpet (or rather, the champagne-colored carpet) Pugh stepped out in an edgy and unexpected Valentino ensemble featuring… hot pants!

The Don’t Worry Darling actress arrived in an avant-garde look from the Italian fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2023 Couture collection, featuring a strapless bodice with voluminous off-the-shoulder puff sleeves that split under her bust and extended into a cascading train. The caped top revealed a black mini dress with pockets and a skort element including black briefs beneath.

Styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, Pugh told E! Live on the carpet, that her look was a “bit of romantic, bit of punk, [I’m] wearing some shorts. I’m doing it.” She added, “They’re very short.”

The Wonder actress completed her look with black platform pumps, a standout Tiffany & Co. structural diamond necklace, drop pink tourmaline earrings from the brand and an assortment of dazzling Tiffany Soleste rings. Styling her blonde tresses in a sculpted updo, Pugh topped off her unique hairstyle with a black bow.

Pugh will present the award for Best Adapted and Original Screenplay this evening. Nicole Kidman, Pedro Pascal, Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain and Salma Hayek will also present at the 95th annual Academy Awards.

Pugh has been on a sartorial roll, walking countless red carpets and attending a myriad of Fashion Week events. Last week, the star attended Valentino’s Fall/Winter 2023 runway presentation during Paris Fashion Week in a glamorous, totally sheer skirt.

With a slew of new projects set to be released in 2023, Pugh will star in ex-boyfriend Zach Braff’s film, A Good Person with Morgan Freeman, and Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming epic Oppenheimer, alongside a star-studded cast including Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Gary Oldman and more. Pugh will also star as Princess Irulan Corrino in Dune: Part Two alongside Zendaya and her Little Women co-star Timothée Chalamet.
