It’s been 16 years since The Devil Wears Prada hit screens, but the iconic magazine industry film still has the pop culture universe in a chokehold. This year alone, Anne Hathaway has been compared to her on-screen character, Andy Sachs, multiple times: first when she wore a strikingly similar look (and hairstyle) to that of Sachs to fashion week earlier this year and then again recently when she appeared on the cover of Interview magazine.

Now, Hathaway’s co-star, the incredible Emily Blunt, has given fuel to the fire of a potential sequel to the film, saying she “would do it in a heartbeat,” while doing press for her new film, The English.

“The green eye shadow is so horrifying, it has to get another outing. So bad,” Blunt joked of her character Emily Charlton’s of-the-era beauty looks, adding, “and the fashion — we loved it. I would do [a sequel] in a heartbeat just to play with those guys again. It’s so fun.”

When Hathaway herself was doing an interview last week, she explained that she doesn’t think a second film is likely due to how much has changed in the world, including with the print magazine industry and, of course, technology.

“I don’t know if there can be [a sequel movie]. I just think that movie was in a different era, you know?,” Hathaway explained on The View. “Now, everything’s gone so digital, and that movie centered around the concept of producing a physical thing. It’s just very different now.”

“Although it is tempting to think about Andy and Emily needing to get Miranda her coffee and she’s somewhere in Europe,” she continued. “And then along the way they pick up Stanley Tucci in Italy, who’s at a restaurant. It’s tempting, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen.”

Hathaway did, however, note there is a way around it: In a similar vein to the Gossip Girl reboot, producers “could relaunch it. They could find new people and do it. Do you think they’d let us do that?”
