Dior by Birkenstock, is finally here. We first heard about of the highly anticipated collaboration at the French maison’s Winter 2022 Men’s show in Paris (Alexander Roth showed us in exclusive photo diary with GRAZIA USA).

The signature Tokio back-strapped mule and the Milano back-strapped sandal get the Kim Jones treatment. From the “Dior grey” colorway to the maison’s notable buckle motif down, the soles also feature a mash-up of the iconic Dior Oblique motif. The inspiration behind the collaboration came from Monsieur Christian Dior’s passion for the art of gardening.

If it seems like Birkenstock has been buzzing in the news lately, it has. In addition to the Dior collaboration, the brand partnered with Manolo Blahnik (for the second time) recently on a dazzling collaboration fusing Birkenstock’s trademark designs with the flair of Manolo Blahnik’s crystal embellishments.

The German shoe brand also teamed up with the Los Angeles-based footwear label, Staud, earlier this month. The collection came together with the mash-up of the Arizona & Gizeh styles combined with the California-cool aura. The collab also includes special-made Staud ready-to-wear apparel and handbags.

And although not an official Birkenstock collaboration, how could we forget Brooklyn collective, MSCHF’s vermilion Birkenstock sandals made out of repurposed crocodile leather from Hermès Birkin bags with a hefty price tag of $76,000, and purchased by Kylie Jenner. It’s quite clear that the cork sole and minimalist aesthetic label is transcending into the high-fashion sphere — what luxury label will be next?
