Just when you thought Queen Bey was busy enough, breaking the record for most Grammy wins and embarking on her Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé teased that she’s working on something in the haircare space.

On Tuesday, the songstress shared an Instagram carousel with three images revealing the new project. First, Beyoncé is photographed sitting at her vanity, curling her hair. Eagle-eyed fans directly spotted the rows of numerous generic sampling bottles in front of her mirror, lined up with unidentifiable creams, sprays and more labeled with white stickers too faint to read.

The next photo featured a photo of Beyoncé as a kid getting her hair braided at her mother’s hair salon, circa 1990. The comments section quickly blew up with fans expressing shock that the child pictured wasn’t Beyoncé’s eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson posted the throwback photo back in 2017 with the caption, “If Beyonce don’t look like Blue on this photo!!! Getting her braids done by Toni❤️.”

The final slide featured a hand-written note from Beyoncé on a gray background. “How many of ya’ll knew my first job was sweeping hair in my mama’s salon? Destiny’s Child got our start by performing for clients while they were getting their hair done,” she wrote.

“I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon. I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls. I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy.” The singer continued, “I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating.” She signed off with a heart and the letter B.

Knowles-Lawson, who famously made the costumes for Destiny’s Child, opened her successful hair salon Headliners in Houston, Texas in 1990 before opening her second location in 2000.

Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland talked about the impact Headliners salon had on her upbringing in a 2019 interview saying, “I grew up with Beyoncé, her sister Solange, her mother Tina and her eldest cousin Angie. It was a real sisterhood. I remember the first time I went to Tina’s salon in Houston, Texas, and seeing a strong, Black woman with her own business.”

Rowland and Beyoncé met during rehearsals for the girl group Girl’s Tyme when they were just 9 years old. Rowland gushed about Knowles-Lawson in the interview saying, “She was so beautiful and glamorous: a role model. She introduced me to artists, lawyers and doctors and made me feel like I could literally do anything.”

We can’t wait to see what Beyoncé has up her sleeve to honor her mother’s legacy.
