Nothing says “living your best life on your birthday” then getting dressed up in a gorgeous Carolina Herrera creation that was made specifically for you. Adele posed for photographer and friend Raven B. Varona, in a series of pics to commemorate her 34th birthday, wearing a beautiful bespoke dress and letting her fresh-faced glow shine.
“What a difference a year makes!” Adele captioned the photos on Instagram. “If time keeps healing and smoothing out all the creases in my life like it does as the years fly by, then I can’t wait to be 60! I’ve never been happier! So many lessons, so many blessings to be grateful for. This is 34, and I love it here! Thank you for the birthday love as always x.”
Ditching her signature winged eyeliner for an all-natural beauty look, Adele sported minimal makeup and her natural, tousled waves. Adorning a custom frock from the New York-based fashion house Carolina Herrera, the black minidress with voluminous off-the-shoulder sleeves and a beaded embellished bodice made the photos extra memorable.
Creative director Wes Gordon provided some insight into the design process for Adele’s custom creation, revealing on Instagram that it was inspired by two looks from the Carolina Herrera Spring/Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection.
The designer posted runway look 44, an embellished strapless minidress with a pointed neckline and cascading train, and shared look 14, a dotted and floral-print mini dress with oversize off-the-shoulder bubble sleeves, writing, “A custom mix of this and this.”
Design director of Carolina Herrera, Marco Grigoli, also shared a behind-the-scenes shot of Adele’s chic birthday dress, posting the finished product on a mannequin.
Later, Adele switched out her designer dress to party in her PJs. Celebrating with her stylist Jamie Mizrahi, photographer Raven B. Varona, creative agency Crown + Conquer founder April McDaniel, and travel writer Jedidiah Jenkins, the group gathered to watch the 1991 thriller flick Sleeping with the Enemy. “I think I’m entering my Julia Roberts era?” Adele shared on her stories.
