For the second season in a row, designers have had to adapt to the new, unconventional format of New York Fashion Week. Spring/ Summer 2021 shown in September was kind of a test run, a trial-and-error period of working out all the kinks of presenting collections without the familiar runway shows and in-person presentations. But fashion learns fast and New York designers have gotten creative with how to not only show their Fall/ Winter 2021 collections, but create an exciting experience that virtual viewings can lack. Now, Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera teased that there is something special in the works for his FW21 collection on his Instagram yesterday.

The fashion house has always been a NYFW highlight as one of the oldest and most revered American fashion brands. Shows in the past have left attendees in awe. Stunning locations like the New York Historical Society and The Frick set the stage for the elegant and elaborate ready-to-wear that is so definitive of the brand.

With the pandemic rendering in-person shows impossible, Wes Gordon had to pivot his approach to fashion week. How can he recreate the sense of wonder that you get from sitting at a Carolina Herrera show without actually being there? It seems like he went above and beyond to make this season “unforgettable.” Yesterday, he took to Instagram to say that he had something big in store for his FW21 collection. It seems like he went all over New York City to shoot the lookbook, in his words “from the Empire State Building to Times Square.” Using all of New York City as a location certainly grabs your attention but it’s guaranteed to be memorable when you shoot during a snowstorm. New York in the snow is magic. Pair that with a ball gown and you have a winning combination. We can’t wait to see what are sure to be jaw-dropping images when Carolina Herrera’s FW21 collection is released on Monday.
