Saudi Brand Copies Georgina Rodriguez Campaign

The star power of Georgina Rodriguez is second to none, and she’s become a superstar in her own right in the region after her move to Saudi Arabia.

The model has attended numerous regional events and has even begun to partner with Saudi brands, including fragrance brand Laverne.

Following the success of her first campaign with Laverne, it appears a competitor has taken notice. The fragrance brand in question is Waves Perfume which has sparked backlash for a recent campaign it published on social media.

The label recently released its new perfume using a model which bears a striking resemblance to Georgina, who now resides in Saudi Arabia with her partner Cristiano Ronaldo and their children.

The brand is being called out on their social channels for replicating a campaign by another Saudi fragrance brand Laverne which was released earlier this year. The Laverne campaign famously features the Argentinean model.

The campaign by Waves creatively looks like the original Laverne campaign from the Georgina doppelganger to the choice of colours to the fashion direction to the set design.

Thus far, two posts have been released from the campaign, with the first being posted in July with a caption in Arabic “جورجينا 👀👀؟” which directly translates to “Georgina”. The second of the posts, a video, was published just a few days ago.

Social media users didn’t hesitate to call out the brand for the perceived plagiarism. Waves has been met with a slew of comments slamming the label for “imitating” a competitor.

One commenter labelled the imitation a “very cheap way of promotion”, while another said it exposed a “lack of character” by the brand.

Others on X, previously known as Twitter, noted they wouldn’t be surprised if a lawsuit was issued.

GRAZIA has reached out to the Waves perfume team for comment.

Georgina rodriguez stars in saudi perfume campaign

The original Laverne campaign with Georgina aired earlier this year, promoting the brand’s fragrance, Blue Laverne. In the campaign the 29-year-old opened up about her move to the Kingdom saying, “I feel very safe in this country and really appreciate its family values.”  She also reflected upon spending her first Ramadan in Saudi Arabia.

“It feels very special to me to be able to experience Ramadan in its place of origin,” she said.
