Kim Kardashian is on her way to mogul status. After relaunching her skincare line, SKKN By Kim, earlier this year, the reality star has announced her next venture – a home accessories extension of the brand. In a new interview with Architectural Digest, Kardashian revealed the first drop of her bathroom and home canisters, which mimic the minimalistic design of both her own home and the controversial packaging of SKKN By Kim.

According to the publication, the initial range will feature five bathroom products – all rendered in Kardashian’s signature ‘greige’ concrete aesthetic – including a “vanity tray, a round container, a canister, a tissue box, and a waste basket”. The star’s home is infamously unadorned, with Kardashian enlisting Axel Vervoodt to create a tranquil space made almost entirely of stone.

“I love concrete and gray tones, it feels really zen to me. When I was designing the packaging for my Skkn by Kim skin-care line, I wanted the packaging to look really good in my own home,” Kardashian told the outlet. “All my inspiration was concrete sculpture and varying shades of stone. For these new home accessories, I wanted to make sure they really complemented the skin-care line, and were designed to display my products and elevate any home with modern, minimalistic elegance.”

Kardashian revealed that she finds the lack of decoration in the design of her home offers her peace from the chaos of her busy life. “I think having the concrete material and monochromatic design are important for my mental wellness. I find that there is so much chaos out in the world that when I come home, the minimalist design creates a sense of quiet and calm,” she said.

Kardashian continued, “That’s why when I designed the Skkn by Kim home accessories collection, I wanted each piece to be artfully crafted from hand-poured concrete—every item has its own unique texture and stone effect with an ornate patina occurring over time, so no two pieces are exactly the same. Even when I designed the skin-care packaging, I had all the products made up in real stone, and then we mimicked that vision when creating the final versions, and I still keep those stone mockups in my office.”

The range – which officially lands on October 6 on the SKKN By Kim website – was imagined by Kardashian to be simultaneously practical and stylish. “When designing the home accessory pieces, I wanted to marry art and functionality, and be able to reimagine any space into a serene oasis. I especially love how the Round Container and the Canister are perfect for storing cotton pads, Q-tips, or for any trinkets on countertops or around the home to keep it clutter-free,” she explained.

Kardashian first filed a patent for homewares back in September 2020. As reported by E!, the Skims founder filed a trademark for “towels, shower curtains, textiles for home furnishings, comforters, aromatherapy diffusers, bath products, body sponges, bathroom candles, household containers for storing and organizing cosmetics” amongst others.

We’re excited to see what’s next.
