As the rest of the world packs up their Fall/Winter 2024 runways, the spotlight turns South for Australian Fashion Week. Marking a new chapter for the event, this year’s AFW will be presented by Pandora and is already teasing a mammoth week of fresh new collection reveals from local fashion veterans and up-and-comers alike, as well as a host of thought-provoking panel discussions around the state of the industry.

IMG, the owner and operator of Australian Fashion Week, announced the complete lineup of runway shows and programming for the 2024 event and expressed their joy over a new chapter for AFW.

“The 2024 schedule features designer runway shows, curated conversations, consumer activations and special events taking place at Carriageworks in Sydney and online at australianfashionweek.com, the digital destination for Australian Fashion Week,” said Natalie Xenita, Vice President-Managing Director of IMG Fashion Events and Properties, Asia-Pacific. “We’re proud to celebrate designers and fashion industry leaders during the most anticipated fashion event in the Asia-Pacific.”

When is AFW?

Australian Fashion Week will take place from May 13-17 in its usual locale of Carriageworks in Sydney. Designers will be presenting their Resort 2025 collections.

All events, shows and discussions will take place during this time and session times have been allocated at the official AFW site here.

What designer shows will take place during AFW?

In exciting news, Albus Lumen, founded by Marina Afonina, will open the event with her Resort 2024 show.

Other sesigner runway shows and presentations include Acler, Alix Higgins, all is a gentle spring, ANNA QUAN, ASIYAM, Beare Park, Blanca, Carla Zampatti, David Jones Indigenous Fashion Projects Runway, EM on Holiday, FDS: The Innovators, INJURY, Iordanes Spyridon Gogos, Karla Špetić, Liandra, madre natura, MASTANI, Michael Lo Sordo, Nicol & Ford, P.E Nation, Romance Was Born, Rory William Docherty, Speed, Third Form, Verner, Viktoria & Woods and Wackie Ju. Next Gen presented by DHL, will feature designers Amy Lawrence, Emily Watson, House of Campbell and Potirakis.

The programming slate features a curated lineup of panel discussions covering the season’s most topical issues and trends. The Talks, presented by Glenfiddich, will kick off with a reception for industry guests and designers on the opening day of Australian Fashion Week. Panels will explore topics ranging from ‘Go West: The Rise of Western Sydney Culture’ with designer Chris Potirakis and musician Esky Escandor; Made for Music’, featuring designer Alix Higgins and stylists Jana Bartolo; ‘First and Forefront: Changemakers 2024’; and New and Next: New Directions in Australian Fashion’, featuring Le Bon Marche consultant Nathalie Constanty and Moda Operandi Buyer Kelsey Lyle.

Additional conversations and special events will include a Sustainability Symposium, presented by City of Sydney, featuring Delta Global founder Robert Lockyer. Women With Drive, presented by Porsche, will feature Carla Zampatti, Creative Director, Karlie Ungar, Albus Lumen’s Founder and Creative Director, Marina Afonina and Liandra’s Founder and Creative Director, Liandra Gaykamangu.

This year, a slew of runways and special conversations will be open to the public, including Carla Zampatti, Acler, Romance Was Born, David Jones Indigenous Fashion Projects Runway, and Pandora’s Australian Fashion Week Closing Night Runway.
