As a personal fan of the bob I was offended when someone once told me the cropped hairstyle was old school and out of date. For a long time it was replaced by the long bob (lob) for those wanting to err on the side of safety from being deemed cheugy. In 2022 I was delighted to learn that, thanks to the never-ending cycle of trends, it had come back around with red carpet flair and Gen Z approval.

Emma Chamberlain has been rocking her own shaggy iteration while Maude Apatow is proving the versatility of the short cut. The next star to try the look? Zendaya.

The actress stepped out alongside her co-stars for the Euphoria FYC event at Paramount Theatre in Los Angeles this week debuting her new short hair. Her brunette locks were curled at the end while it was finished with a sweeping side part. On Instagram Stories she addressed her transformation, writing, “When bitches get a lil bob. Me… I’m bitches.”

She paired her new hair with a little black polo, a Schiaparelli Padlock Pencil Wrap Skirt and black Christian Louboutin suede pumps.

It seems the bob cut is something the actress has been considering for some time. After all, it’s a big commitment. In April the star walked the red carpet with what appeared to be a slick faux bob. In May she was spotted with a blondish lob on set of her new film Challengers.

No doubt Tom approves.
