There’s nothing like a fresh coat of color on your lackluster locks to kick off your summer festivities. Proving this point in the most stylish way possible is Zendaya, who took to the birthday party of her assistant, Darnell Appling, to unveil a subtly touched-up hairstyle perfect for the balmy months ahead.

Hosted at Los Angeles’ Pan Pacific Park in La Brea, the Freaknik-themed fête saw the 26-year-old actress sport a simple warm-weather ensemble. The Euphoria star donned a simple white tank top and blue denim jeans, completing her look with a pair of triangular earrings that framed her shoulder-length bob.

As fanatics of the Emmy Award winner would know, Zedaya has been gradually darkening her tresses since debuting her honey-hued blunt cut back in December of 2022.

The surprise haircut was courtesy of her role as pro tennis player turned coach in Luca Guadagnino’s R-rated romance, Challengers. However, the 2023 award season saw Zendaya experiment with the new length through a myriad of styles, including a modish bob with flipped ends and a side bang.

Now, the actress has unveiled a new colorway; a rich burgundy-to-auburn balayage look that we’re already fawning over.

A mix between the color she sported for her role as MJ in Spiderman: Homecoming and her signature shade, this variation proves that the summer season doesn’t require a lighter look, but rather one that enhances your existing tone. At the birthday party, Zendaya was also spotted getting down on the grass dance floor and booging to Beyoncé.

Her Dune co-star, Timothée Chalamet, was also in attendance wearing a basketball jersey layered over a white T-shirt, slouchy neon green drop-crotch shorts and rainbow tie-dye sneakers with Batman socks.

Here’s hoping the pair will sartorially match each other’s energy for the upcoming Dune 2 press tour. Both stars not only appear together in this sci-fi universe but are part of Guadagnino’s aesthetic cinematic universe.

Considering J.W Anderson and LOEWE’s Jonathan Anderson is designing costumes for Guadagnino’s projects, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the stars come out in matching surrealist ensembles any time soon.
