Micaela Erlanger wrote the book on easy styling hacks — no, really she has a book called How to Accessorize: A Perfect Finish to Every Outfit — so, when we caught up with the star, we had to ask about the thing that is on our minds right now: how to efficiently put outfits together for a trip.

“My packing tips for traveling this summer are definitely to stick with a color palette — that way everything mixes and matches, and you will be able to get many more outfits than what you actually have to pack. Also, think about layering. That’s one of the easiest things you can do to make an outfit feel new or feel different,” the stylist, who is partnering with MagicLinen to help launch their new spring/summer collection, featuring 30+ versatile new styles and 10 new on-trend colors, exclusively tells GRAZIA USA.

As for how many looks to put in your suitcase, the fashion guru, who is Lupita Nyong’o‘s stylist, notes she takes about seven or eight different looks with her.

“But make sure to bring classic pieces that I can mix and match so I can get more use out of each piece if needed,” she says. “Or, if I decide to wear something at night, I try to rewear it to the beach over my bathing suit the next day, like a long flowy dress or shirt. I like to pack light when it comes to denim shorts or jeans because those can be reworn throughout the week as well.”

She adds, “If you are working within a color palette, it’s going to make packing much more simple. That also extends to your accessories, whether it’s a great bucket hat or your sunglasses or the color of your sandals. These are things that you can keep within the same color family and again you will be able to get many more looks than you need to actually pack.”

The brunette beauty shares that finding the right kicks is the tricky situation. “Try to stick to the ratio of three pairs of shoes, one for day, one for evening and one for activity,” she says, adding that it’s important to not “pack too last minute.”

“Try to start making a list a week before and think about what you will bring. If you wait until the last minute, you might find your favorite top is in the laundry or you might easily forget the favorite bag or accessory you like to wear with a special look,” she notes.

This summer, Erlanger, who eloped in 2021 and later got married in April 2022, is heading to Sicily with her husband, William “Mac” Osborne, and she couldn’t be more ready to be by the crisp ocean air.

“I am excited for my summer travel plans and what feels like an eternity. I look forward to my Italian vacations more than anything. And this year is no exception,” she says. “I am so excited to relax and just have an easy, stylish time. I think there is nothing more glamorous and chic than the Italian coast, so I’m really excited for my time away and of course to get dressed up, but really dress with a sense of ease and relaxed confidence as opposed to all of the glitz and glam. It will be a more natural, comfortable but still stylish summer wardrobe attire.”

In the meantime, Erlanger is getting the word out about MagicLinen, which has a plethora of summer staples that fits into anyone’s wardrobe.

“This summer, I’m partnering with MagicLinen for timeless linen wardrobe staples just in time for my honeymoon and summer travel season. They recently launched their new spring/summer collection, featuring 30+ versatile new styles and 10 new on-trend colors. Their biggest spring/summer launch to date, the new line is perfect for ‘sun-days and everydays’ and includes dresses, rompers, shirts, jackets and more in their signature high-quality linen that is soft, lightweight and breathable for the warmer months. Their pieces are effortless and quality products and so easy to throw on for any occasion — MagicLinen is the perfect summer wardrobe!” she says.

She adds, “So it’s hard to choose favorites from the MagicLinen spring/summer collection because there are so many easy, wearable pieces. I absolutely love the little drawstring shorts, The Whistler,  that has the coordinating little swing top, The Paros. I have worn it a few times in all white and absolutely love it. It’s quintessentially summer. I also love the Carmel tubetop with the Kihei, which are the matching drawstring pants, the and of course an easy everyday summer dress like the Toscana or the Cetara.”
