Fashion and art are one and the same, which is proven in Colombian-born designer Silvia Tcherassi‘s eponymous lifestyle brand. The crossover makes perfect sense seeing that the designer started her career as an interior designer before her search for a new way to express her creativity led her into fashion. Collection after collection, the designer continues to reinvent the wheel while keeping true to the label’s feminine and creative DNA.
It was in 2004 when Tcherassi first presented during Paris Fashion Week and was inspired by the artful interplay between geometry and nature—a central theme in her pre-fall 2022 collection. A unique Kaleidoscopic pattern dons several garments from maxi dresses with a subtle side cut out to lightweight belted jackets and dazzling structured tops. Traditional floral motifs which have garnered the brand a loyal cult following make an appearance with an abstract feel thanks to blurring distortions and emphasizing textures through embroideries. Wardrobe classics also get Tcherrassi’s Latin flair treatment, opening up the collection to women of every style.
The art element in the collection goes beyond the visual modality; Tcherrasi’s remarkable and delicate designs are one to not only see in person but to feel. The strokes of the handmade patterns to the weight and quality all make each piece exceptional. “It’s all in the details,” Tcherassi’s daughter and the labels ready to wear director Sofia Tcherassi mentions at the in-person presentation. “Everything has a purpose and is meaningful when it comes to the collection,” Sofia adds.
