Every time Serena Williams steps on the court, she’s one to watch for her dominance and her statement-making style. Most recently, she took catsuits and tutu skirts for a spin, so naturally, when the “greatest of all time” made her way to USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY, on Monday night at the U.S. Open (her last tournament as a professional tennis player) all eyes were waiting to see how she performed and what she wore.

Williams recently announced she’s “evolving away from tennis” in an interview with Vogue to prioritize her fashion line, venture capitalism, and being a mother. On Monday, she dominated on the court with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Danka Kovinic. For the momentous moment, the 23-time Grand Slam champion stepped out in a sparkling black tennis dress with an embellished bodice that paid homage to her career.

Serena worked with Nike’s design team to create her final tournament look that showcased lots of symbolism and kept her “feeling comfortable and confident,” she wrote on Instagram. Her tutu skirt features six layers, one for every U.S. Open she has won. The dark color represented the night sky above center court in Flushing. Meanwhile, her footwear teased an all new fashion launch.

She sported a pair of custom NikeCourt Flare 2s with diamond-encrusted swooshes in collaboration with her eponymous jewelry line, with charms reading “QUEEN” and “MAMA” dangling off each shoe. The charms (better known as Deubrés) are made of solid gold and 400 pieces of 2-carat diamonds on black ceramic. They officially launched on Monday for fans to spice up their own shoe style too.

“When it came to tonight’s winning look, the queen of the court wanted something that embodied the fiery boldness she always serves.” Nike shared in an Instagram post. Those watching the tournament caught a glimpse of Williams’ daughter, Olympia, in the crowd as the camera panned over, wearing a mini version of the same look down to the sneakers.

The 4-year-old had her hair done in braids and beads, a signature style Serena and sister Venus Williams sported when they first came to fame in the ’90s. The white beads Olympia wore were the same style Serena had when she won her first US Open in 1999.

Serena will move on to the second round and face Anett Kontaveit. She’s also playing in the doubles tournament with Venus.
