Serena Williams is just one of several stars who will have their lives immortalized on the silver screen. Today Vanity Fair announced the 23-time Grand Slam champion has signed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios.

Williams’ first project will be a docuseries on her own life, “through my eyes and through my lens,” she told actor Michael B. Jordan in the interview.

In a statement released to DeadlineWilliams revealed, “I’m very excited to be partnering with Amazon Studios – they are developing some of the most inspiring and important content for a global audience. I have a lot of stories I’m eager to tell, including a continuation of my own, and I look forward to sharing those with the world.”

The docuseries will be the first of a number of projects and according to publication will entail scripted and unscripted television productions that will debut exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

“Serena has transformed her sport and become one of the most inspiring athletes, entrepreneurs, and women of her generation, admired not only for her unmatched prowess on the court but for her dedication to advocacy as well,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “We’re incredibly excited to share her journey in this new series, and to work with her to create new original content for our Prime Video customers worldwide.”

Williams is a formidable force for females both on and off the court. She has collaborated with Stuart Weitzman, remains a friend and advocate for Meghan Markle, and in 2019 wrote a powerful essay on what it is to be a working woman.

This isn’t the first time the tennis trailblazer has featured on television. In 2018, Williams starred in the five-part HBO Sports documentary, Being Serena, which documented major milestones in her life.

She follows the likes of Kanye West, Prince Harry, and the late-Chadwick Boseman who all have forthcoming documentaries set to be released in the coming year. There is no release date for Williams’ first project with Amazon, so stay tuned.
