While watching the first episode of And Just Like That, viewers had big questions, including why didn’t Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) attempt to call 911 and save Mr. Big (Chris Noth) when he was on the floor dying of a heart attack?

Now, the actress is weighing in on the controversial but sad scene.

“I always think of that particular moment, as there have been a few in the show in its previous title, that it’s suspended animation. It’s this moment where everything stops, and then whatever collapsing of time that happens does not stop her from taking care of somebody in a fashion that you would want and expect from your partner or husband or wife,” the actress shared, adding that Carrie “found the phone at some point.”

“We can walk through this together, shall we?” she continued. “In my head, she struggled through this moment and tried to get him to be responsive. And then she, you know, came to her senses — I’m gonna say after about two to three seconds … And then, of course, she called 911 and got all the help she needed from professionals.”

Additionally, Parker got candid about Kim Cattrall‘s absence from And Just Like That. In the finale, Carrie — who flies to Paris to spread Big’s ashes — texts her pal Samantha Jones, who is now based in London, to ask if she wants to get a drink. Surprisingly, Samantha is all in.

“It was an idea because Samantha is not gone. The actress that played that role is no longer playing that role, but people aren’t absent from your life when you don’t want them to be. And I thought that, in typical Michael Patrick [King] fashion, he, you know, threaded it through with grace and dignity and respect, you know, and love and affection for that character. And I thought it mimicked many friendships that, you know, challenge each other and struggle and want to remain connected in a way because it’s too painful,” Parker said during her latest appearance on What What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

While the moment was nice, Cattrall will not be making any future appearances if season 2 does occur.

“No. Just like there was no thought that Kim would ever participate in And Just Like That, because she’s said what she had said,” showrunner Michael Patrick King said, referring to Cattrall’s previous comments about the cast and the show.
