Forget Venice Film Festival, the real stars are hanging out at Nicki Minaj’s house! Overnight, the rapper shared a family photo of herself sitting on a couch with her husband Kenneth Petty, their soon-to-be one-year-old son (whose name still hasn’t been revealed), and none other than the music power couple of the moment, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.
Though Minaj didn’t go into detail about what the double date entailed, the two women popped online to tease us about their friendship—and our lack of invite to the occasion. In videos, the women pouted and joked around, including one clip in which Rihanna teased Minaj, revealing that the people of Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, where the women are individually from, historically don’t get along.
“You know Bajans don’t like Trinis?” Rihanna asked, to which Minaj audibly gasped, clearly unaware. “And Trinis don’t like Bajans. They draw a line in the ocean over flying fish,” Rihanna added, promising to explain more about the feuding islands to Minaj “another night.”
For the occasion, Rihanna—never one to be called a minimalist—wore a feather-trimmed stretch-knit playsuit from Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2021 collection and Amina Muaddi heels. Her equally stylish beau wore a white tee, leather pants and black boots. Minaj matched Rihanna’s energy, wearing top-to-toe latex, while Petty opted for double denim. The couple’s baby boy was decked out in Burberry.
After going public with their romance earlier this year, Rihanna and Rocky have been photographed multiple times on dates in Los Angeles and New York. The pair, who were rumoured to be dating in late 2020, revealed they spent lockdown travelling around the US in a van, making tie-dye t-shirts and getting to know each other.
Back in business mode now, Rihanna is currently prepping for the release of her latest Savage X Fenty show, set to debut on Amazon on September 24th, while Rocky is creating music videos with his girl for his new album.
