The gang’s coming back! The feel-good comedic trio Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin will return to Hulu for a third season of Only Murders in the Building. The streamer renewed the hit comedy series just three weeks after season 2 debuted.
“Only Murders in the Building is the true crown jewel of our slate,” said Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment president Craig Erwich in a statement according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humor and heart, and its truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan [Fogelman], John [Hoffman], Steve, Marty and Selena’s work. We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story.”
According to Hulu, season 1 of the series was the streamer’s most watched original comedy, garnering universal critical acclaim.
Written by Martin, Dan Fogelman and John Hoffman, the hysterical murder-mystery follows three strangers, Mabel (Gomez), Oliver (Short), and Charles (Martin) all living in an exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the Arconia. Bonding over their shared love of true crime, the trio quickly finds themselves embroiled in a high-stakes murder investigation and record a podcast along the way.
After the amateur sleuths discover Tim Kono’s killer in season 1, Mabel, Oliver, and Charles find themselves wrapped up in trouble once again when the Arconia’s Board President, Bunny Folger was murdered — and Mabel is found at the scene of the crime.
Racing to unveil the true killer, our funny trio is bound to run into some slapstick complications along the way. There will also be a few cameos from other A-list stars including appearances from Cara Delevinge, Amy Schumer, Tina Fey, and Shirley MacLaine.
The first four episodes of season 2 are currently available to stream on Hulu, with more episodes released every Tuesday. While we await a release date for season 3, watch this space for more exciting news on Only Murders in the Building.
