Looking forward to the star-studded sequel to Knives Out? Well, here’s something to tide you over until the release Rian Johnson’s next wry murder mystery: Hulu’s Upper West Side whodunnit, Only Murders in the Building. The series stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short as a trio of neighbors turned amateur sleuths investigating a murder in their posh New York apartment building. Hulu dropped the trailer today, and it looks like a hoot.

Co-created, co-written, co-executive produced by and co-starring Martin, Only Murders looks like it may be a little more slapstick than Knives Out, but it’s got a similarly impressive cast of character actors (including Amy Ryan, Nathan Lane, Jane Lynch, Sting) as the various suspicious denizens of the building in question. Here’s what we know from the trailer: Gomez, Martin and Short’s true crime obsessed characters seem to be the last people to see their neighbor Tim alive. And so, the unlikely trio decides not only to try to solve the crime, but to document their investigation for a podcast. Da’Vine Joy Randolph shows up as some sort of—clearly more competent—detective, and we know that this all must take place in our post-pandemic reality due to the a notable amount of tie dyed hoodies.

The series premieres August 31. Check out the trailer below.
