The nation tuned into live televised broadcasts from all around the country New Year’s Eve to ring in 2022—and to send 2021 packing. From celebrity appearances in Times Square to New York, to ABC’s first-ever Spanish-language New Year’s countdown from San Juan in Puerto Rico, there were plenty of inspiring visuals and fashion moments, boding well for the new year.

Roselyn Sanchez and Daddy Yankee led the celebration in San Juan—a stunning spectacle in gleaming platinum and silver. Sanchez wore a glittering one-shoulder party mini-dress, and Daddy Yankee wore a glossy silver jacket and trouser matching set.
Meanwhile, at Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson’s New Year’s Eve Party, a major wardrobe malfunction while Cyrus was onstage forced her to pop backstage in the middle of ‘Party in the USA’ for a quick-change—swapping a silvery crop top for a red blazer. The singer pulled of the awkward moment like a total pro, though, and improvised a few lines in her 2009 chart-topper, changing them to: ‘Everybody’s definitely looking at me now.’
Meanwhile, in Nashville, country music superstars rang in the new year with some of their biggest hits—both musical and style-wise. Jimmie Allen chose a flashy star-spangled jacket for his performance, Miranda Lambert channeled old-school country in a black jumpsuit from Fables by Barrie, Kelsea Ballerini chose a sequined strapless catsuit for her performance, and Lady A’s Hillary Scott channeled 1920s-inspired elegance in a floor-length glittering pinstripe gown.

Despite the continued looming threat of Covid-19, televised celebrations across the country this year were far from subdued—for example, although scaled back from a usual crowd of about 58,000, still 15,000 celebrants turned up in Times Square last night.
