Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci has resurrected his namesake label to dress Ghanaian-British screenwriter and actress Michaela Coel. On Thursday evening, the Emmy Award winner chose a custom-made creation from the designer for the the London premiere of the highly anticipated superhero flick Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The star slipped into a head-to-toe black bespoke ensemble, consisting of a matte stretch silk scoop neck bodysuit teamed with a tiered Chantillty lace sheer skirt with a thigh-high side slit, emblazoned with dainty floral and star embroidery.

Coel wore a pair of bespoke black lace stockings and strappy black sandals from the designer. Styled by Georgia Medley, the I May Destroy You star added an extra dose of glamour with an assortment of statement rings from Messika.

According to WWD, Tisci took notes from both Coel and her mother, who has created many dresses for her daughter over the years.

Coel told the publication, “To become a part of this moment in which his [Tisci’s] career comes full circle is a nourishing experience,” She also recalled the former Burberry creative director’s “remarkable confidence and humility in his craft.”

Tisci took to Instagram to express his love for Coel. “The first time I met Michaela, I immediately understood that she represents and expresses everything a woman means to me — freedom, beauty, a sense of adventure,” he wrote.

“So today, 17 years after I started my first label, Riccardo Tisci, Michaela and I decided to create a look that would celebrate our creativity and friendship, for the London premiere of her new film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

The design marks the first time Tisci has created under his own name in 17 years, after shuttering his eponymous label before taking the reins at the Parisian fashion house Givenchy in 2005. He joined Burberry in 2018 as chief creative officer. He stepped down from his role at the British label in September after almost five years in the position. It was announced that former Bottega Veneta creative director Daniel Lee would take his place.

It hasn’t been announced if Tisci will go on to helm another major fashion house, but for the moment, he’s staying busy and bringing back his signature label — and signature flair for red carpet dressing.

The second installment focuses on Queen Ramonda (Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), Okoye (Danai Gurira), M’Baku (Winston Duke) and the Dora Milaje as they battle to protect their nation from interceding world powers after the death of King T’Challa (portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman). The Wakandans must come together to forge a new path for their kingdom. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on Nov. 11.
