For Megan Thee Stallion, 2021 presented an opportunity to get back to her roots – literally. Back in January, the Hot Girl Summer rapper revealed that taking the time to care for and nurture her natural hair was a major priority for her this year. “Sooo y’all know I’m on an overall health journey and I’ve been pretty up close and personal with my day to day routines,” she wrote on Instagram.
The “Savage” hitmaker (whose real name is Megan Pete) then revealed she had committed to a complete overhaul of her hair health with Mielle Organics, a Black-owned hair care brand that focuses on textured hair. “I asked the hotties to tag me in some black owned hair care products I could use for my natural hair and I’m excited to announce I’m going on my natural hair journey with @mielleorganics by @exquisitemo,” she wrote.
Now Pete has shared an update on her hair progress, posting a video of her natural curls to Instagram. “Yes I am still on my natural hair journey and yessss we have seen some growth,” the 26-year-old said. Previously the star predominantly wore wigs, which allowed her to switch it up for her notoriously show-stopping looks and also protected her naturally textured hair.
Fans praised her decision to rock her own hair, with many finding it a breath of fresh air. “Girl you are such an inspiration! We’ve never seen anything like it! BODY GOALS! HAIR GOALS! LIFE GOALS! Thank you for your transparency,” wrote comedian Jasmin Brown.
