Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff have hoodwinked us all by getting married in a surprise ceremony on Saturday in Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
The weekend-long festivities kicked off on Friday evening, with Qualley, 28, and Antonoff, 39, hosting guests at the low-key Black Whale Bar & Fish House in Beach Haven for their rehearsal dinner. As shared in Instagram Stories by her older sister, Rainey Qualley, the bride-to-be wore an ’80s-style tea dress that featured puffed shoulders and tiered detailing on the back with white ballet flats by Sandy Liang.
According to reports by Us magazine, the guest list was awash with famous faces, including Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz, Cara Delevingne, Mae Whitman and Sarah Ramos. The bride’s parents, actress Andie MacDowell and ex-husband Paul Qualley, attended alongside her brother, Justin Qualley. Antonoff’s father, Rick Antonoff, also joined the party with his sister, Rachel Antonoff.
The couples’ big day was held at a nautical-themed restaurant called Parker’s Garage & Oyster Saloon. In photos, Qualley can be seen wearing a relaxed halter dress à la Marilyn Monroe and white Mary Jane ballet flats. Keeping in theme with the vintage glamour, she wore her hair parted to the side in a curled bob. Antonoff, who grew up in New Jersey, also went for a classic look with a simple black tux. Details of who is behind their bride and groom looks are yet to be revealed.
The couple, who first went public with their relationship in August ,2021, announced their engagement on Instagram in May, 2022. Fans were thrown for a loop with their surprise nuptials, though, as it was believed Lana Del Rey revealed the couples’ wedding date in her song, ‘Margaret’ from her album, Did You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, which was produced by Antonoff.
The lyrics begin with the story of how the couple met. “He met Margaret on a rooftop; she was wearing white,” it starts. Then, further along, Del Rey can be heard saying, “I mean, join the party… by the way, the party is December 18,” which fans naturally assumed was when they were set to tie the knot.
