After hanging out in the front row with FKA Twigs in London last week, Madonna returned to New York City to attend at the WBA World Lightweight Championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with her 16-year-old son David Banda. They both opted for their sporty best, dressed in adidas attire from two new high-fashion collaborations from the sportswear giant.
The Queen of pop chose a look from the athletic brand’s Balenciaga partnership that debuted last weekend at its New York Stock Exchange show, while David chose a sporty-chic red dress from adidas’ collaboration with Gucci, soon to be released on June 7.
Madonna shared some snaps on Instagram of their evening, capturing it, “Family fight night,” followed by several boxing and heart emojis. Naturally, fans were automatically drawn to the duo’s matching stripes. One fan commented, “Iconic mom & iconic son,” while another mentioned, “David is the coolest guy on Earth right now.”
Banda showed his mom’s affinity for pendants by layering a few silver necklaces over one another and adding yellow rectangular sunnies to accessorize the look. He further paid homage to his mom by carrying a shoulder bag with “Madame X” written on the leather strap. The look calls to mind a red adidas striped dress Madonna wore to the premiere of Sleepless in Seattle in 1993 (see here), giving the outfit an extra dose of nostalgia.
The material girl layered up on her bold statement-making crucifixion pendants and a pair of white cat-eyed sunnies.
