Fom Balenciaga to North Face, Gucci has proved beyond doubt in recent months that it plays well with others. Now comes the most hotly anticipated of its recent collaborations: a collection with adidas that drops today, June 7.

Adidas is no stranger to major collaborations itself (see: Ivy Park, YEEZY) so the mash-up between the iconic Italian heritage label and the German athletic brand has been on everyone’s shopping list ever since it debuted on the runway in February, during Gucci’s “Exquisite Collection” Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear fashion show in Milan.

Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele played upon each brand’s use of three stripes in their iconography (for Gucci, red and green, and for adidas, white). For example, he gave a dash of luxury to adidas’s instantly recognizable designs by featuring Gucci’s red and green stripes on one side of the sleeve and pant leg in a track suit, and adidas’s white stripes on the other.

Michele also merged both brand’s logos, mixing the adidas Trefoil with Gucci’s interlocking “G” monogram to “amplify two legacies” through apparel and accessories in the line.

The apparel ranges from sportswear pieces to items better suited for cheering in the stands. There are high-shine takes on adidas windbreakers and tracksuits, and tennis-ready polos, sweater vests, and skirts, while pleated midi skirts, knit sweaters, and dresses lean more sophisticated than sporty.

As far as accessories, the beloved Gucci Horsebit 1955 purse makes an appearance, along with duffels and camera bags all splashed with the Trefoil treatment. Classic shoe styles from each brand – the adidas Gazelle sneaker and Gucci Horsebit loafers – got a dose of the other’s iconography in mixes reminiscent of the Gucci x Balenciaga hack.

The line launches on the Gucci Confirmed app and website June 7, and the adidas x Gucci Pop-Ins in NYC (725 5th Ave.) and East Hampton (17 Newtown Lane) will open June 10.
