Madonna

Madonna has been making a lot of surprise appearances over the past year. Last June she delighted fans with a performance at Boom Boom Room during World Pride. A few months later, she put on an intimate show at the iconic Harlem staple, Red Rooster, that ended with a parade through the neighborhood. Now, for her latest surprise appearance, she didn’t stage a performance but she did steal the spotlight, when she sat front row at the annual Central Saint Martins BA fashion graduation show on Tuesday.

The 63-year-old icon was on-hand to view the designs from the class of 2022, wearing a head-to-toe black ensemble paired with a studded leather jacket. For her accessories, she opted for the 30 CM Brooklyn Box Trunk bag by Midnight Studios by Shane Gonzales, her go-to crucifix fingerless gloves, necklaces layered with chunky silver chains and silver hair clips.

She sat next to musician FKA Twigs, who sported a knit dress with oversize utilitarian boots and a sculptural egg-shaped bag. The two seem to be besties, and posed together for pics together last week, which Madonna shared on Instagram.

One Central Saint Martins graduate, Matty Bovan, enjoyed having the A-lister in attendance. “Love @Madonna at Saint martins xxxx.” Knitwear designer Alice Morell-Evans who won the top prize, commented on the post, “MADONNA SAW EVERYTHING!”

Madonna has ties to the prestigious school, which is known for its prominent designer alumni such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Stella McCartney, and Phoebe Philo. Madonna’s son, Rocco Ritchie, (whom she shares with ex Guy Ritchie) received a post-grad diploma from the university and is enrolled in the Royal Drawing School in Shoreditch. Rocco has already been selling his work under the name, “Rhed,” which is available to view via Tanya Baxter Contemporary.
