When I was in elementary school, I danced in a performing arts group. For recitals, we had to wear bright blue eyeshadow and red lipstick. I remember recklessly applying a drugstore eyeshadow single with my fingertips and smearing the lipstick onto my lips sans lip liner—the horror.
That said, I’m slightly traumatized by the combination of blue eyeshadow and red lipstick, and you best bet that I’m hesitant to embrace the 60s-inspired glam ever again. Few people in this world could convince me otherwise, one of which is Emily in Paris star Lily Collins.
For her virtual appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, November 30, the 31-year-old looked breathtaking in retro-inspired glam. Makeup artist Fiona Stiles is the mastermind behind the makeup look, comprised of bold brows, diffused, pale blue eyeshadow, defined lashes, and red lipstick.
So as to not distract from her statement-making makeup moment, hairstylist Gregory Russell gave her “sleek, shiny, healthy hair,” which he parted off-center.
Tying the look together perfectly, fashion stylist Rob Zangardi dressed the brunette beauty in a suit from Alexandre Vauthier’s Spring 2020 collection. The team completed the look with Cartier earrings and rings.
This isn’t the Growing Pains alum’s first time wearing pastel blue eyeshadow. However, this does appear to be the first time Collins’ paired the eye makeup with red lipstick, boldly teaming up two primary colors. At the Les Miserables premiere in NYC in April 2019, she stunned in a maximalist blue cat eye with Twiggy-inspired eyelashes. The next month, she opted for a softer take on the blue eyeshadow trend at a screening of Tolkien in LA.
