One year after the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, the famed French fashion house is introducing its first beauty collaboration — and it’s between two legends. Dame Pat McGrath, the creative director for cosmetics, and Nicolas Ghesquière, current Louis Vuitton artistic director, joined forces to dream up two stunning makeup collections inspired by two iconic Monogram canvases, all to mark the 130th anniversary of the brand’s ubiquitous monogram.
Few fashion labels are as instantly recognizable as Louis Vuitton — and that’s thanks to the monogram flower that’s emblazoned on logo bags, small leather goods and all manner of accessories — the new La Beauté LV Crayons lip pencils are even in the shape of said flower. The two creative geniuses cooked up two new iterations of the bold print — Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge — for the collaboration.
Each collection offers an all new quad eyeshadow compact, satin lipstick and “topper” lip balm meant to morph hues, as well a selection of beauty accessories, which have become synonymous with La Beauté Louis Vuitton.

Monogram Dune offers an angelic palette of quiet luxury including beiges, dusty blue and cream. “Monogram Dune is luminous and warm,” says McGrath. “She moves through the world with a stealth assurance. Her beauty is timeless, effortless and all the more powerful for it.”

The Monogram Infrarouge offerings are quite the opposite. Bold packaging of black and red contains mega-bold hues that command attention. Think berries, silver and plum, plus a lip topper with the makeup maven’s signature intergalactic, holographic sparkle. “There is depth, drama and the kind of boldness that’s completely mesmerizing,” McGrath says of the range.

While luxury fashion has been in the zeitgeist for the past year thanks to a revolving door of creative directors, no house has melded their fashion vision with their consumer-facing beauty extensions — until now. Though McGrath has designed the makeup for Louis Vuitton’s runways for years. “Nicolas and I have been building looks together backstage for so many years, there’s a shorthand between us: a trust and cohesive vision. What we have created with this collection for La Beauté is the natural next step of that conversation,” she says. Now fans can paint their faces with this vision — far away from the runways.
