Remember that iconic, gold brooch Lady Gaga wore to belt out the American National Anthem at President Biden’s inauguration? Well it’s now available for purchase and you too can own a piece of history. The Couture House Schiaparelli—fresh off a truly stunning Fall/Winter 2021 couture collection—officially launched the Schiaparelli Dove today. All funds raised will be donated to support Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundationa charitable organization which she co-founded with her mother Cynthia Germanotta—with the mission to support mental health and wellness amongst youth.

As mentioned, last January, the Maison Schiaparelli—and creative director Daniel Roseberry—had the privilege of dressing groundbreaking artist and human rights activist, Lady Gaga for her performance of the American national anthem. On her jacket, she wore a Schiaparelli brooch in hammered gold in the form of a dove carrying an olive branch—a symbol of peace and hope. It’s very fitting that Lady Gaga and Roseberry landed on adorning her with the dove brooch for this monumental moment, as she’s dedicated her platform to human rights issues, peace and anti-bullying. The Dove motif has a long standing history at Schiaparelli. As she was Influenced by artist of the surrealist, dada and cubism movements, Elsa Schiaparelli often used surrealist imagery of the contemporary art masters of her time in her designs such as the Dove (She even owned Picasso’s “Oiseaux en cage”Caged Birds—by Picasso.) When the Schiaparelli Dove made a return with Lady Gaga during the Presidential Inauguration, it symboled Schiaparelli and Lady Gaga’s attachment to this cross-cultural symbol. “It was a beautiful tool that allowed Creative Director Daniel Roseberry to contribute to the renewed sense of peace and hope marked by Lady Gaga’s performance” says Maison Schiaparelli, via a press release.

Founded in 2011, the Born This Way Foundation—which takes it’s name from Gaga’s sophomore album of the same name— has committed to fostering change through high impact programming, youth led conversations and strategic, cross-sectoral partnerships to validate the emotions of young people and eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health. From such programs as Channel Kindness to teen Mental Health First Aid, Lady Gaga and her mother are pushing for a better world, for overall emotional wellness and with the kindness of Schiaparelli—they’re doing their part.“My daughter and I, along with the young people we work with every day, believe kindness is the way forward from the overlapping, ongoing crises of the last year and a half. We couldn’t be more grateful to have the proceeds from the Schiaparelli Dove, a beautiful symbol of hope and new beginnings, benefit our work and mission to build a kinder, braver world,” says Cynthia Germanotta, via a statement shared with GRAZIA. “With the support of Schiaparelli, we will continue to follow the lead of this aspirational, hopeful generation to build movements that address youth mental health and connect them to the resources they need to not only survive their lives, but thrive” says the Born This Way Foundation Co-founder and President.

“Like so many of us, I have been inspired by Lady Gaga and her Born This Way Foundation for years. Her inauguration performance, and the symbolic Dove Brooch, is a milestone in the history of this Maison and in my life. It is with great pride that we are able to contribute to Gaga’s foundation and the remarkable work it has done in the lives of young people everywhere, moving them towards more freedom, kindness, and love.”
