Kim Kardashian Pete Davidson Style Transformation

Style is how you express yourself to the world, and for Kim Kardashian, it’s also a signal of a new love affair blossoming in her life — or the end of one. Kardashian has become a perpetual chameleon when it comes to her wardrobe, from her endless rotation of Hervé Léger bandage dresses in the early aughts, to her even more iconic power suiting era in 2010 (perhaps foreshadowing her current fashion and beauty mogul status?). When she began dating her ex-husband Kanye West, he notably purged her closet and consulted the star on her switch to wearing high-fashion designers, all the time. Now, Kardashian has become the ultimate muse for Balenciaga‘s creative director Demna Gvasalia who has partnered with West on his DONDA release.

Within Kardashian’s nine-month relationship dating comedian Pete Davidson, you’ve undoubtedly taken note of her laissez-faire style transformation since the two announced they were officially dating. Never entirely giving up her incognito Balenciaga-era, the star often experimented with more playful and less serious pieces in her wardrobe, a direct influence we can attribute to the eclectic comedian’s style and personality rubbing off.

Take her fiery catsuit look from April (seen here). It’s quintessential Kardashian but with a playful edge, diving into print and adding texture with a pair of furry sunnies. The look definitely caught a lot of addition and made its way to meme status, being compared to Mrs. Incredible, proving its playful nature.

For Davidson, the transformation was more of a shock. He remained true to his Staten Island street style aesthetic through his previous relationships with Ariana Grande, Kaia Gerber, and Kate Beckinsale, and it wasn’t until Kardashian came around that had the 28-year-old decided stepping up his wardrobe up (and rightfully so!).

The SNL cast member swapped his baggy threads and rotation of sweatpants and hoodies for tailored suits and designer ensembles. For the 2022 Met Gala, he hit the coveted red carpet steps in a classic black suit paired with a tie to accompany Kardashian who wore Marilyn Monroe‘s gown. Davidson still kept a touch of his down-to-earth style by pairing the look with black-out shades.

Last week, it was reported that Skete (a play on Kardashian and Davidson’s couple name of ‘Kete’), has decided to part ways. According to Radar, a source says that while Kim Kardashian felt overwhelmed by the intensity of their whirlwind relationship, Pete Davidson just ramped things up even more. “Kim wanted to slow things down and instead Pete proposed,” the source explained.

The only public response regarding the couple’s split has come from Kardashian’s ex Kanye West, who shared a now-deleted post on Instagram of a fake New York Times front page reading, “Skete is dead age 28.”

(According to Page Six, Kardashian was “livid” over the post. There have been reports that Davidson was in “trauma therapy” since April due to other attacks by West on social media.)

If looks could spill all, Davidson’s recent outfit choice is a good tell-all on how he’s taking the breakup. According to E! News, the comedian was photographed wearing a “What… I feel like shit” T-shirt in Australia, just one day after their split was publicly announced.

Although their relationship didn’t last, there’s no denying their style was a match made in fashionable heaven. It made both adapt to one another’s sensibilities, and we loved seeing a new style era from them both. We’ll certainly be watching to see what’s next.
