Bella Hadid may be ushering in the new trend of honey blond hair, but Kate Moss is making the case for going electric pink thanks to her latest high-fashion gig. Marc Jacobs tapped longtime friend (he has a knack for doing that) for his brand’s Resort 2022-2023 campaign where Moss rocked a punchy pink hair hue.
Photographed by Harley Weir in London, Moss modeled oversized and destructed denim, monogrammed attire, and the brand’s signature sky-high platform Kiki boots in the Danielle Emerson-styled shoot. She also showed off the Bucket bag and the J Marc Shoulder bag in the shots too.
As a longtime confidante of the designer and friend of the brand, the model first appeared in the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2000 campaign. Moss has walked in countless Marc Jacobs runway shows and attended the Met Gala in 2009 and 2019 alongside her friend.
It’s also not the first time Moss has rocked pink hair. She famously sported the neon shade back in the 1990s, walking in Versace’s Spring/Summer 1999 runway presentation and posing in bed for photographer Juergen Teller in the 1998 snapshot dubbed, “Young Pink Kate.”
In a 2014 interview with famed British photographer Nick Knight for ShowStudio, Moss explained her popping pink ‘do. “I had pink hair because Donatella [Versace] said, ‘I want you for an exclusive for Versace and Versus,’” said Moss, adding that the two shows were a week apart. “So, I was like, ‘I’m not going like red, or something normal,’ so I said, ‘I’ll go pink.’ So, I went pink.”
“It was so sad because this picture [Teller’s “Young Pink Kate”] was when is started looking good,” Moss told Knight. That’s when designer Calvin Klein, who Moss was under contract with at the time, requested she switch her look back to brunette. Moss was only able to enjoy her hot pink tresses for just a week.
