Julia Fox Oscars

Julia Fox is continuing to push fashion and beauty boundaries on and off the red carpet. (Have you seen her recent DYI outfits?) For Oscars weekend, the Uncut Gems actress kept up her head-turning ways by wearing a gripping dress to the 2022 Oscars Vanity Fair afterparty. Fox posed for photos wearing a striking black leather dress featuring a hand clasped around her neck, but it might be her handbag that poses even more questions.

The dress is a piece from Copenhagen-based label Han Kjobenhavn‘s Spring 2022 collection, made in collaboration with artist Naomi Gilon. The standout element of the halter gown is the neckline of the dress, which Kjobenhavn designed to look like a hand reaching around the wearer’s neck, hence the name, “Grip Dress.” The self-proclaimed muse of director Josh Safdie accessorized the standout ensemble with an equally memorable clutch.

Fox stopped for an interview at the Vanity Fair red carpet where she said the bag featured “real human hair.” When asked to clarify, she backtracked, “I think, I mean, I think so. I mean, it looks like it.” (Word’s still out on the exact materials used to make her clutch!)

To really make the look her own, she wore her signature “Fox eye,” featuring bold over-the-top black eyeliner (which she applied herself).

While her look was certainly more standout than most on the afterparty circuit, the dress and handbag did fit with Julia Fox’s avant-garde aesthetic (remember the Schiaparelli look she wore earlier this year during fashion month?).
