Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had a special (and stylish) date night at the Air red carpet premiere at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles on Monday evening.
Never one to shy away from a bold style statement, Lopez brightened up the carpet in an Antonio Grimaldi Couture gown with sheer crystal-embellishments along the mock neck and long sleeves with a floor-length, curve-hugging neon green skirt. The Shotgun Wedding actress accessorized with a bedazzled clutch and SHIPHRA high jewelry, styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.
The “Jenny from the Block” singer styled her caramel brown strands into an elegant chignon with two curled tendrils framing her face.
Affleck on the other hand, donned a dapper navy corduroy Thom Sweeney suit with a double-breasted jacket and a baby blue button-down dress shirt with a coordinating navy tie for the occasion.
The couple shared laughs, loving gazes, whispers and kisses on the basketball court-esque wood paneled “carpet.” At the event, Affleck told Entertainment Tonight, that his wife is “brilliant and helps me in every conceivable way.”
Affleck both acts and directs his new feature film, Air, which is set in the 1980s and tells the story of the revolutionary partnership between then-rookie basketball player Michael Jordan and Nike, and the inception of the Air Jordan line.
Affleck stars as Nike co-founder Phil Knight while his longtime friend and close collaborator Matt Damon plays Sonny Vaccaro, the Nike employee who persuaded Jordan (portrayed by Damian Delano Young) to sign the contract that allowed for the creation of the iconic Air Jordan shoe line.
The A-list ensemble is rounded out by Viola Davis, her real-life husband Julius Tennon, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker and Marlon Wayans.
In the film, the staff at Nike headquarters meet to discuss growth, sales and brand recognition — specifically of the company’s basketball division. Willing to bet his career on one man, who had never before set foot on an NBA court, Vaccaro travels to North Carolina to meet with Jordan and his parents (Davis and Tennon). From there, the team sets out to create the greatest basketball sneaker ever made.
