It’s true that when news first broke that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez went on a romantic getaway to Montana that Matt Damon apparently had no idea of the reunion. In fact, his response to reporters at the time went along the lines of, “It’s a fascinating story, I hope it’s true. I love them both. That would be awesome.”

Well now it seems that the Good Will Hunting star is back in the know and told People that he keeps in touch with Affleck about “everything”.

“Well, I mean, it’s real-life stuff,” Damon told the publication. “We each got a whole mess of kids. We text pretty much about everything. There’s so much in the press about him that normally I’m just fact checking things I read. ‘Did this happen?’ He’s like, ‘No that didn’t happen.'”

Speaking on the red carpet for the premiere of his new film Stillwater, Damon added to Extra, “I’m just so happy for him,” adding of Affleck, “He’s the best. He deserves every happiness in the world. I’m glad for both of them.”

In short, get yourself a friend that will not only fact check rumors for you but support your relationship wholeheartedly.

The comments come after Affleck and Lopez were spotted kissing on a yacht in Saint-Tropez at the weekend. The couple sent social media into a frenzy as they officially confirmed their relationship. After the singer’s 52nd birthday bash in France, they’ve since been spotted in Capri, Italy.

GRAZIA International’s own creative director Dané Stojanovic stumbled across the pair and their posse as they walked alongside the water hand-in-hand. Affleck seemed to be wearing his signature blue button-down shirt (no really, is that his whole wardrobe?) with Lopez wearing a white linen set and straw hat. Blink and you’ll miss it.

Just last month Lopez inadvertently spoke about her relationship. “I’m super happy. I know people are always wondering. ‘How are you? What’s going on? Are you okay?’ This is it. I’ve never been better,” Lopez told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
