Hilary Duff has spent her life in the spotlight ever since she burst onto the scene playing the beloved character Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel hit show in 2001. Growing up in the limelight is never an easy thing to navigate, and in a new interview, Duff is opening up about the struggles she’s gone through with her body image, including battling an eating disorder at 17, and how she’s finally found peace with her body.

In fact, she’s so proud to be in the space she’s in that she bared it all for the cameras.

“I’m proud of my body. I’m proud that it’s produced three children for me,” Duff, 34, told Women’s Health where she posed nude for the cover and spread. “I’ve gotten to a place of being peaceful with the changes my body has gone through.”

The mom of three shares daughters Banks, 3, and Mae, 1, with husband musician Matthew Koma, and son Luca, 10, with her ex-husband, Mike Comrie.

While she worked out with trainer Dominic Leeder four days a week before stripping down, she emphasized there are still some smoke and mirrors when it comes to getting glam. “I also want people to know a makeup artist was there putting glow all over my body and someone put me in the most flattering position,” she told the outlet.

On Instagram Duff wrote that the experience was “scary” adding that she “knew doing this would terrify me and I was right!” She went on to say she had “the best time” and “felt strong and beautiful” during the shoot. (Always the supportive hubby, Koma already changed his Instagram profile photo with a shot of her naked torso!)

In the interview Duff reminded fans that one can be in shape, get Botox, get highlights and lash lifts, but there’s one aspect to always focus on: mental health. “I want to work on the inside,” she shared. “That’s the most important part of the system.”

The actress is currently gearing up to start shooting the next season of How I Met Your Father, where she stars alongside fellow ’00s celebs, including Josh Peck, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Kim Cattrall (who plays Sophie in the future) and Christopher Lowell. Duff gushed about being part in the show before the series premiere saying, “I couldn’t be more obsessed with this pack of weirdos and I am very proud of our show!”
