It’s clear that Gisele Bündchen hit the genetic lottery with her beauty. But as someone who has been working in the modelling industry since she was 14—and who looks better at 43 than ever—you can bet that we’re all ears when she shares advice. From the routines that keep her looking and feeling great to the food she favours to keep her energy up, the mother and entrepreneur takes a holistic approach to her wellness.

In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, the Brazilian native opened up about how she navigates co-parenting her two kids with her ex, Tom Brady, and what works for her when she does and doesn’t have the kids in her care.

“I have my kids sometimes, and sometimes I don’t have my kids. There’s a different ritual when I’m with them and when I’m not,” she told the outlet. “When my kids are with me, they have so many activities. It’s difficult to manage my schedule and their schedule.”

One part of her routine she never skimps on, though, is her oxygen mask.

“The most important thing for me every day is to put the oxygen mask on me first,” she noted.

Unsurprisingly, Bündchen, who has never been one for the Hollywood party scene, said that she likes to “go to bed at about ten pm” and get up to meditate at around five in the morning every day.

To support the body’s immune system and get her metabolism moving, she also drinks “lukewarm water with a little lemon and Celtic salt” first thing in the morning. Then, to get her body moving, she takes a moment to stretch before walking and feeding her German Shepherd.

With a passion for nutrition, the veteran model likes to keep her diet mostly natural. She focuses on vegetables and fruits, with eggs, avocado, smoothies, and almond paste for protein boosts. White sugar is also a no-go for the 43-year-old, as she considers it poison.

“There [are] so many other ways you can sweeten your things that are delicious,” she said, adding that her favourite treats included honey, maple syrup, and dates.

Despite a busy schedule, Bündchen tries to find time to work out six days a week, swapping between low-intensity workouts that relax the mind and heart-pumping cardio.

“I love Pilates because I had back surgery three years ago, and it helps with your core. I like to exercise outside surfing, swimming, horseback riding, and volleyball,” she explained. “When I’m on holiday, I do more of that. I do weights about two days a week and cardio about two days a week,” she said, adding that she also goes on lots of walks.
