Florence Pugh is no stranger to creating a little sartorial drama on the red carpet and her next appearance is no exception to the rule. In fact, it might be her best look to date. Over the weekend the Little Women actress attended the 25th annual British Independent Film Awards and stole the show in an ethereal Rodarte midi lace slip and a sweeping organza cape from the Fall 2023 collection.
The actress’ ensemble was courtesy of celebrity stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray — who also counts clients such as Gemma Chan and Lily James — with jewelry supplied by Tiffany & Co. and heels by Aquazzura.
The actress was nominated for two awards at the ceremony including Best Lead Performance and Best Ensemble Performance for the recent Netflix period film, Wonder. The likes of Daisy-Edgar Jones, Paul Mescal, Letitia Wright and Jenna Coleman were also in attendance at the star-studded bash.
Pugh has proved her affinity for ruffled tulle in recent months. Amid drama with the Don’t Worry Darling cast at the Venice Film Festival, Miss Flo turned heads in a glittering Maison Valentino ensemble and more recently at the Governors Awards wearing a sheer Victoria Beckham number. She’s not afraid at disrupting the norm either.
In July of this year she appeared in the front row at the Valentino Haute Couture Fall/Winter 22/23 runway and later faced an onslaught of hate from “body shammers.” Pugh addressed her 8.5 million followers on Instagram describing a group of men who “proudly” and “publicly” destroy women’s bodies online.
“It isn’t the first time and certainly won’t be the last time a woman will hear what’s wrong with her body by a crowd of strangers, what’s worrying is just how vulgar some of you men can be,” she wrote in a lengthy caption. “Thankfully, I’ve come to terms with the intricacies of my body that make me, me. I’m happy with all of the ‘flaws’ that I couldn’t bear to look at when I was 14.”
