Leave it to Emma Corrin to sport the most surreal designs in fashion with an effortless flair. The actor attended the My Policeman premiere on Saturday evening during the 2022 BFI London Film Festival at the Royal Festival Hall in quite an unexpected ensemble.
With the help of stylist Harry Lambert, Corrin graced the red carpet in a gleaming minidress that doubled as a plastic bag containing a swimming goldfish. Corrin styled their hair in a bleached shag and teamed their look with black chunky mule heels.
Knotted over their shoulder and teamed with Cartier earrings, the creation served as the perfect bookend to close out this year’s film festival on its last red carpet. The inventive frock comes from J.W. Anderson’s latest Spring/Summer 2023 collection shown during London Fashion Week in a buzzing Soho casino.
In a little over a decade, the eclectic designer has transformed from subversive wunderkind to one of the most celebrated British designers, leading his eponymous label and serving as creative director of Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe since 2013.
In keeping with Corrin’s typically quirky sense of style, Saturday evening was not the first time Corrin has snagged an eccentric look straight off one of Anderson’s runways. Back in April, the star attended the Olivier Awards in London, wearing the balloon printed mesh maxi dress, equipped with a deflated balloon breastplate from the Loewe Fall/Winter 2022 collection.
Promoting their new film My Policeman, Corrin stars alongside Harry Styles and David Dawson in the Michael Grandage-directed adaptation. Based on the 2012 romantic novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts, the story follows a love triangle, jumping between two time periods. My Policeman is set to hit theaters on October 21 and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime on November 4.
Not their only BFI appearance this weekend, the busy actor stepped out on Friday as well, promoting another new project. Based on the famous D.H. Lawrence novel, Lady Chatterley’s Lover is on its way to Netflix. To celebrate the series’ forthcoming debut, Corrin walked the red carpet in a sheer, royal blue organza custom Miu Miu mini shift dress, with matching blue stockings and black slingback heels from the Italian fashion house, and Cartier jewelry.
Later that evening, the star arrived for the premiere’s afterparty in a sculptural, boxy blazer as a dress, that cinched at the waist from the brand 16Arlingon.
Corrin pulled up their white socks and sported a pair of intricately studded Church’s brogues.
Set to also star in an upcoming stage adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s prolific 1928 novel Orlando: A Biography, the play is set to debut this fall with exact dates and theater locations set to be announced, according to Playbill.
