Jonathan Anderson designed his most surrealist collection yet for Loewe with his Fall-Winter 2022 line-up, when the creative director sent mini dresses featuring sculpted car skirts, puckered-lip breastplates, stilettos sewn into dresses and lots of balloon motifs shown throughout the collection. To take any of these pieces off the catwalk and into IRL, it takes a true fashion star who isn’t afraid to step up to the plate. Enter, 26-year-old The Crown actress, Emma Corrin.
On April 10, Corrin, whose pronouns are she/they attended the Olivier Awards in London, where she was nominated for her performance in the play, Anna X, in look 16 from Loewe’s FW22 collection. The maxi mesh dress featured a playful all-over balloon print in neutral shades, with two beige deflated balloon as a breastplate, which was also the way it was styled on the runway.
The Golden Globe-winning actress finished the look off with sculptural jewelry from Cartier’s Trinity collaboration with Japanese fashion designer Chitose Abe of Sacai and black patent leather boots with balloon heels also from the Spanish luxury house.
Stylist Harry Lambert shared a photo of Corrin’s outfit on Instagram with the caption, “This one is for the gays.” The campy look isn’t too much of a surprise, as Corrin is frequently seen in out-of-the-box ensembles from Schiaparelli, KNWLS, Prada, and Miu Miu for her red carpet appearances. She and her stylist clearly have a vision in mind, and they have yet to disappoint.
