After watching season 2 of Emily in Paris, the question on everyone’s mind is — will Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) fight for chef Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) love or give her relationship with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) a shot?

At the moment, it’s unclear what will happen, but Bravo, who gained notoriety when he was cast as Emily’s love interest in season 1, got candid about his career taking off in the past few years. As much as he loves his job, he admitted that it can take a toll on him.

“I’m healthy, of course, but I can be overweight … All the little things that define who you are and make you human once you’re in that [heartthrob] category are perceived like a flaw. And I don’t want to be perfect. I’ve been working against that. In France, they don’t want good-looking. They want broken faces,” he told The Times.

He added, “I think that character is always perceived with [physical flaws]. You can’t be aesthetically beautiful and be smart or have depth. I kept getting roles like the dumb gym teacher. It’s hard to break that image. I’m not complaining, of course, but it’s a reality.”

The French native has been working in the industry for 10 years, but when the show debuted on Netflix in October 2020, he became “a heartthrob overnight” — something he is still adjusting to.

“It feels a bit rushed. Too much attention for the quality of work I provided,” he shared. “I think being famous is the worst thing that can happen to you. It’s just smoke. It doesn’t mean anything. It made me very self-aware. Because when you think about that word and the people it encapsulates, you see always a healthy, good-looking, ripped person – and I’m not that.”

At the moment, the handsome hunk is single. After dating someone, “I was very much in love, but timing wasn’t on our side. We were doing the same job [by this I assume we’re talking about another actor] and we had a very private relationship,” he revealed. “She was working a lot and I was working a lot, and we were at opposite points in the world for an amount of time, and we decided it was going to be too hard. We’re still good friends.”

“Of course I feel lonely, because I’m in love with the idea of being in love, but I think the less you look for it, the more it finds you,” he said.

Sounds like Bravo is only getting started — whether he likes it or not!
