Dua Lipa has reportedly made like the lyrics in her new disco single, “Houdini”, by breaking free from her relationship with French film director, Romain Gavras.
As per reports from British tabloid, The Sun, the pop supernova split from the 42-year-old after a “summer of love”. The publication cites the songstress’ alleged wishes to prioritise her music career in anticipation of her third untitled studio album dropping.
A reported insider close to the situation revealed the reason for the sudden split, which came eight months into their whirlwind relationship. “She [Lipa] has blinkers on when it comes to her career and the pair ended the relationship before things turned sour,” the anonymous source claimed.
“Romain considered Dua to be a workaholic but she doesn’t plan on slowing down for anything or anyone,” they added. It’s believed that Lipa and Gavras had already split by the time the musician released the 70s dance track.
Lipa and Gavras began dating in February this year. The couple made their debut public appearance at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

Following their Hollywood-approved hard launch, Lipa and Gavras travelled across Europe together to enjoy the balmy summer months. The former couple were last seen at London’s Chiltern Firehouse in early November.
Neither Lipa nor Gavras have addressed the speculation surrounding the status of their relationship. But if things were turning south, as reports will have us believe, Lipa may litter her next album with hidden references to the breakup.
