The running joke amongst Dua Lipa’s staunch supporters is that the pop sensation is seemingly on a perpetual vacanza where, like Carmen Sandiego, she’ll appear anywhere in the world impeccably dressed in a legion of luxury designers.
It’s no wonder then, why this jet-setting spirit is embedded into Lipa’s pop star off-duty wardrobe, with her sartorial aesthetic a melange of late 90s and early 2000s silhouettes, balmy hues and slinky silhouettes.
Indeed, Lipa has perfected the art of a holiday wardrobe, so it’s no surprise to see the supernova gravitate towards Australia’s very own golden child, Christopher Esber, when it comes to leisure dressing.
Like Lipa, Esber’s design methodology relishes in refined sensuality with pieces that exude confidence thanks to their skin-baring shapes or inventive sculptural form.
As anyone would tell you, Esber’s creations inject you with the utmost exuberance, so with Lipa opting for two back-to-back looks from the Sydney-based designer it’s clear his ebullient resort-inspired clothing are working overtime (even when she’s off the clock).
While in Greece with her French filmmaker boyfriend Romain Gavras, Lipa shared several snippets of her Euro Summer travels, including the two micro Esber looks she sported while gallivanting around the Mediterranean island.
In between bikini snaps and pictures of fried prawns, Lipa posed a midnight-coloured set that was masterfully styled to appear as one single piece. Posing alongside Gavras, Lipa paired Esber’s relaxed side cowl waist t-shirt with his waterfall-esque arced palm micro set.
The latter featured a deep convex cutout that finished in a draped off-cut which grazed Lipa’s calf. The asymmetrical skirt offset the more casual drop-shoulder top, providing the informal-meets-polished evening look required for long relaxing dinners.
The next night, Lipa backed it up again with another masterfully draped micro mini, this time a deep chartreuse variation from Esber’s Pre Fall 2023 collection.
Comprising of a fine jersey fabric, the clinging dress gathered around Lipa’s hip and waist to create this cloaked effect with gentle black lace added along the hem of the skirt and shoulder to soften the look.
With the dress named Galathea, which in ancient Greek mythology is a woman sculpted from ivory by Pygmalion and brought to life by Aphrodite, it’s only fitting that Lipa wears it during her sojourn in Greece.
We’re unsure of which sun-soaked locale Lipa is heading to next but with an array of Esber packed in her luggage Lipa will be dressed for any occasion.
And with Lipa sparking some inner wanderlust, and maybe even jealousy, of her European summer plans, we’re stocking up on new season Esber pieces to vicariously live through her.
