Oh to have insight into Dua Lipa’s wardrobe. From thigh-high boots to zebra print bikinis, the “Future Nostalgia” artist manages to transcend eras and trends to become one of the most talked about style icons of the moment. Her next look does little to quell the hype.

As the mercury rises State side, it’s all sunshine. In an apparent continuation of her cowboy themed music video for “Love Again”, Lipa took to social media today for a fresh take on what we can only assume is creative resort wear.

Aptly captioned, “having a cowboy moment”, Lipa wears yellow tinted sunglasses, a red string bikini, gingham Miu Miu jacket, denim shorts and a chunky belt. If you scroll through the rolodex of snaps, Lipa soon reveals brown leather knee-high boots finished with decorative stitching.

If I didn’t know any better it’s almost as if the artist stepped off the set of Dukes of Hazzard. Think a modern take on both Catherine Beach and Jessica Simpson’s beloved character, Daisy Duke. After all, the ’80s are back in a big way. It’s not the first time Lipa has referenced iconic women either.

At the 2021 Grammy Awards, Lipa appeared on the red carpet as a spitting image of Cher on the same prestigious evening in 1974. While it was just one of many iconic outfit changes across the evening, the reference of butterflies, holographic eyeshadow and sweeping hair was hard to miss.

Similarly for the Brit Awards later in the season, Lipa’s red carpet beauty look paid homage to two iconic women, Amy Winehouse and Marie Antoinette, through her sky-high bouffant. Later in the ceremony for her performance, Lipa’s Union Jack coat bore strong resemblance to Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.

Who will she look to next? Stay tuned.
