On Thursday, August 25, Dr. Barbara Sturm, Head of Fashion Direction, Amazon Sally Singer, and actress Kate Hudson, hosted an intimate dinner at Shou Sugi Ban House in the Hamptons. The reason for the celebration? To fête the launch of Sturm’s eponymous label on Amazon Luxury Stores.

The venue made perfect sense to celebrate the brand’s new venture because it married Dr. Sturm’s wellness idealism with the property’s tranquil and Japanese-inspired concept. Upon arrival, guests, including Stella McCartney, Laura Kim, Aurora James, Cynthia Rowley, Katie Couric, Derek Blasberg, Tabitha Simmons, Elizabeth Saltzman, Alina Cho, Tamron Hall, and Athena Calderone, were welcomed with a Glow Drop experience, followed by cocktails in the courtyard.

Also in attendance were Amy Julliette Lefévre, Charlotte Groeneveld, Maria Alia Al-Sadek, Sai De Silva, Tamu McPherson, Tina Leung, Pritika Swarup, Zippy Seven, Samantha Angelilli, Joey Wölffer, and Lilli Buffett, who took their seats for dinner at a long communal table set alongside a beautiful pool. As the sun began to set, Dr. Sturm and Singer commanded the crowd to discuss the skincare genius’ wellness philosophy.

Guests dined on an idyllic three-course anti-inflammatory meal curated by Danish chef Mads Refslund. A spotlight ingredient on the menu was purslane. This green, leafy vegetable not only tastes great but is one of Sturm’s hero skincare ingredients in her products for its powerful antioxidants that stimulate collagen and cell repair. The dinner quickly became a dance party as guests finished their last course with DJ Zuri Marley playing dance tunes.

In addition to the products launching on Amazon, Dr. Barbara Sturm has created a virtual assistant via Alexa. Customers can discover their Dr. Barbara Sturm skincare routine and answer their most pressing skincare questions by speaking with Dr. Sturm herself via an Alexa-enabled device. All you have to say is, “Alexa, open Dr. Barbara Sturm” to start.
