According to a slew of celebs stepping out and about in double denim looks, the Canadian tuxedo is making a comeback for spring. From The Crown’s Claire Foy to actress Julia Fox, stars have been giving all-jean looks their own signature spin the past few weeks, ushering in a new trend of the season.
There’s Foy, who went structured with a cinched jacket and strong lapel, Camila Cabello who took some inspo from Britney Spears’ heyday with her on-stage double denim look, and of course, Fox who has been spearheading the trend ever since she wore a head-to-toe denim look alongside her ex Kanye West during Paris Fashion Week. She’s continued to display a particular affinity for the fabric, cutting up her own jean looks most recently.
Below, get some inspo from your favorite style stars including Simone Ashley, Elsa Hosk and more, to give the look your own spin this season.
Promoting her upcoming performance in the historical drama A Very British Scandal, English actress Claire Foy stepped out in N.Y.C., working a pair of bootcut blue jeans, and a matching denim button-down jacket, cinched at the waist with a denim belt.
Performing on Good Morning America earlier this week, singer Camila Cabello sported a total denim ensemble to take the stage. With many drawing comparisons to Britney Spears’ 2001 style moment, Cabello opted for an outfit consisting of light-wash, distressed jeans, a patchwork upcycled denim corset by Denimcratic, and a bedazzled denim trench from Diesel’s Spring/Summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection. Styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, Cabello later changed into a denim puffer jacket, remaining consistent in her layering.
Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley recently sported a Burberry denim collared shirt and matching mini skirt, styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray while promoting the hit Netflix series.
Supermodel Elsa Hosk took a sunny stroll in I Am Gia’s Drew denim tube top with center cutout and a matching pair of jeans to complete her sexy spin on the Canadian tux.
After posting a plethora of tutorials to her Instagram on how to concoct various reimagined denim outfits, Julia Fox went all-out, in denim booties, ripped jeans, a patchwork denim Balenciaga Hourglass bag, a light-wash denim blazer, and a denim bandeau, appearing to be made from the waistband of a different set of jeans, as she has done before.
Model Sara Sampaio was recently spotted out and about sporting a patchwork set of jeans with a matching cropped denim jacket, paired with a simple tank and sneakers.
Styled by Lorenzo Posocco, pop star Dua Lipa was seen in N.Y.C. in a double-denim Diesel Fall/Winter 2022 set created by designer Glenn Martens. Lipa’s distressed zip-up bralette was teamed up with a pair of seamless pantaboots or “joots,” and a matching denim handbag, all fresh off the Milanese runway.
Following in Rihanna’s stylish footsteps and baring her baby bump, Dollface actress Shay Mitchell stepped out in a pair of medium-wash jeans and a quilted denim jacket over her plain white twist-tie cropped tank and shimmering body jewelry, styled by Monica Rose.
