When it comes to fitness, models are often at the forefront of all the latest workouts that the industry has to offer. It’s been well documented that many train like athletes, so it’s only natural that they’d be exposed to the best personal trainers – and by extension, the best new workouts – in the world right now. Reformer Pilates, while certainly not new, has become the go-to sweat session for a number of the industry’s most famous faces.

Every time I open my Instagram app, I’m greeted with a new celebrity bending and extending in a Pilates class. Of late, it’s been Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, who work out at the ultra-exclusive Forma Pilates studio in Los Angeles. Appointments at Forma are private, and clients are by referral only – making it an attractive space for high profile models like Jenner and Bieber to hone their physiques.

“No days off,” captioned Jenner in a recent post at Forma Pilates, where she regularly trains alongside best friend Bieber (and it’s pretty much the only place she gets papped these days). Meanwhile, fellow supermodel Miranda Kerr has her own Reformer bed at home, which she often shows off on Instagram. Jenner’s sisters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian have also been sharing their Refomer Pilates sessions of late.

So why does it feel like this workout has gained such traction in recent months? According to experts, workouts like Reformer Pilates provide the perfect low-impact option to encourage long, lean muscles. Traditional Pilates is also renowned for targeting those small muscle groups that often get missed (or strained) during other types of exercise.

But as the practice’s popularity continues to grow, Reformer Pilates is now starting to be remixed with other types of exercise to create the ultimate workout. The team behind the global fitness powerhouse that is F45 have now created a new workout that combines Reformer Pilates, yoga and strength training for an even bigger burn. Called FS8, the circuit workout follows the functional philosophy and time duration of F45, but focuses on lower impact movements that can be completed daily.

Georgia Fowler, Montana Cox and Bambi Northwood-Blyth have already taken to one of the many FS8 studios that are set to open, so we expect to see the Reformer Pilates trend continue to sweat and sculpt the model crowd.
