Attention, attention: Blake Lively will not be attending the 2023 Met Gala on the first Monday of May. We know, it’s a travesty! The Simple Favor actress has been a longstanding staple of the annual ball since first attending in 2008 and we can’t imagine the Karl Lagerfeld theme without her interpretation.

On Thursday evening, Lively attended Tiffany & Co.’s grand reopening of its newly renovated New York City flagship location on 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, where she told reporters she won’t walk the red carpet on the famous Met staircase. Instead she said, “I will be watching.”

After being praised for her 2022 Versace gown, she said, “Thank you, that’s very sweet. I’ll be wearing that on my couch on Monday.”

This week Lively has been out and about, making us even more excited to see what she had up her sleeve for the annual gala. First she attended the 2023 Barnard College Annual Gala in New York City where she gave herself a well-deserved pat on the back for leaving the house (relatable) for her first red carpet outing after welcoming her fourth child with husband Ryan Reynolds in February. “I’m just so proud I left the house,” she joked on Instagram. Then, she wowed in a brown Brandon Maxwell plunging shirtdress at Tiffany & Co.

We’ll miss you on Monday Blake, but in honor of her epic looks through the years, we’re looking back at some of Lively’s best Met Gala outfits.
